About Me

I was born January 1996 in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, where I grew up.

After graduating from high school in 2012, where computer science classes (that taught me Pascal and Assembly, among others) had made me interested in software development, I took up a two-year internship at a software company specializing in railway systems, where I helped with computer-aided engineering, wrote scripts in C and systematically tested user interfaces for dispatchers and signallers.

I then went to university to pursue my scientific interests.
After four years, in 2018, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics with a physics minor.
As part of my mathematics studies, I studied the basics of artificial intelligence and did programming projects in C++, Python and Java.

Although I greatly enjoyed mathematics, physics and programming, I felt that I was missing something:
the creativity and imagination that had been driving me to create stories and games ever since I was little.
I realized that in order to feel truly fulfilled, I need something from both worlds:
Mathematical, logical, structured thinking. Analysis. Problem solving. Programming.
Art, creativity, playfulness. Creating stories, characters, worlds and games.

That is what inspired me to apply for Animation and Game in Darmstadt.
I applied as early as 2016, creating Circle of Suspects in the process, but decided to complete my studies of mathematics before finally taking on Animation and Game in 2018.

As of now (December 2019), I am in my third semester of Animation and Game.
In addition to furthering my abilities in software development (specifically, object oriented design and working with Processing (Java) and Unity (C#)) and teaching me new skills such as 2D/3D animation and rigging, studying Animation and Game has integrated my long-standing hobbies of game design and writing into my daily work, honed my abilities in each and given me the experience of working on complex game projects as part of a team.
It has indeed united both worlds.
